Cook Off

Hello everybody! Welcome to or back to Guiding at Home. Today I've got a fun activity that you can do as a family or you can video-call your friends and do it with them.

I think cooking and baking are such useful skills to have and are great fun to engage in. It's like chemistry, you are mixing ingredients to make a beautiful concoction that you can eat which is a huge bonus!

But why not make your cooking and baking sessions more fun and make others join in? I think a good old Cook Off or Bake Off will rise everyone's spirit and reveal your competitive side. Take some inspiration of the Great British Bake Off and Masterchef and get in the kitchen and have some good old fun.

To start off it's always good to have a theme, for example you have to use a certain ingredient or it has to be decorated to represent something or it has to be a certain type of food like a cake. You can make it as simple or as complicated as you like.

If you want to make things more complicated you can have different rounds like in the Great British Bake Off. Let everyone prepare and set a time and date.

Set up your kitchen and grab a timer. I recommend setting a time limit, this creates a pressurised environment and boasts the competitive vibe.

I think you should also have someone who isn't taking part judge at the end. They can score the dishes, they could look at the presentation, taste and how well it fits in with the theme.

This is just a quick idea but I thought it was a fun idea, make it your own and enjoy yourself!

Please comment below if you take part and what you made.

Thank you for reading and make sure you keep safe and keep on Guiding!
