Welcome to Guiding at Home!

Hello and welcome to Guiding at Home, a space dedicated to keeping young girls Guiding in quarantine. This lockdown period that we are facing has meant that Guide meetings have been stopped but that doesn't mean Guiding has to stop! There are so many things that you can do in the space of your home to keep young girls growing and enjoying Guiding.

I would first of all like to introduce myself, the mysterious writer of this blog, my name is Grace and if you are reading this you probably know who I am. I help out at my local Guide Unit as a Young Leader and I am also a Ranger. I am 16 years old and I just finished Year Eleven without any exams, whoop whoop! This also means I don't have any school work to do, I know lucky me. But I know this time for most people, especially young people is hard. You have your school work to do, you are missing your friends and it feels like it is never going to end but it is however to help you I want to help inspire you to have downtime and continue your Guiding journey. I know that sounds cheesy but Guiding is what has kept me motivated and it teaches me new things everyday. Not just in quarantine but also in day to day life, I have been in Guiding for nearly 8 years and I have achieved so much and become a better person, I know I'm kinder and have a lot more confidence. I want you to feel the benefits of Guiding so let's keep it going.

I'm going to post different activities on this blog to help inspire you and some things you might not know about Girlguiding for example the history of this brilliant organisation.

There are already so many things you can be doing, for example have you looked at the interest badges? Why not look through your badge book and complete one so when we are back your leader can sign it off and you can have a pretty badge to sew onto your uniform or camp blanket?

For older Guides you can look at some of the awards, during this period I am working on my Commonwealth award, why not have a look and see what inspires you?

Thank you for reading and make sure you keep safe and keep on Guiding!
