Flower Pressing
First of all you are going to need some flowers or plants, I recommend small wildflowers for example buttercups and cow parsley. You can find these in most places, just take a wonder around your area. When taking a cutting of your plant or picking your flower don't take lots from one plant or area, we don't want to take lots from our environment as this could be damaging.
Once you have a bunch of different wildflowers and plants from your walks take them home. You are then going to need a bunch of heavy books. Separate all your plants out and put one or two plants between each page of the book, make sure the plants are spread out throughout the book. If you are worried about the plant staining the book pages put some scrap paper on either side of the plant before you put it in the book.
Now that you have your flowers in your book ready to be dried out, you need to put the book somewhere where it will receive pressure. You can do this but laying the book flat and putting loads of other books on top or on a really tight bookshelf. The flowers will take two to three weeks to dry out, it is quite a long process.
After they are completely dried you can take the flowers out of the book and start using them. I like to use them as decoration as I find it hard to keep plants alive. I use an old bottle and put them in the top then put them around my room, they give my room a nice vintage feel. I like to also use them as decoration when journaling or when letter writing. Some people also put them in frames as decoration. There is so much you can do with them, Pinterest is full of great ideas :) Talking about Pinterest I have made a Pinterest account where I will put more ideas for you to look at for each of my posts - https://www.pinterest.co.uk/guidingathome/
I hope you enjoyed this short activity, please comment what you are going to do with your pressed flowers!
I would also like to hear what other activities you would like me to go through or explain.
Thank you for reading and make sure you keep safe and keep on Guiding!
