About Rangers

Hello everybody! Welcome to or back to Guiding at Home. I have decided that every Wednesday I'm going to talk about something to do with Guiding, last week I looked at the history of Guiding and this week I want to talk about Rangers. For those of you who don't know Rangers is the group up from Guides, its for girls between the ages of 14 and 18 years old.

I am a Ranger myself so I wanted to talk about it to help inform girls who are nearly of age to move up what it's like and what you can expect. First of all let's talk about the program, it's the same six themes as all the younger groups and we base our unit meetings around them. We have learnt about skin care, done first aid, danced, played games, had cook offs etc. We also have interest badges that you can do at home alongside a large variety of awards. You can  work towards your Young Leader Qualification, Lead Away Permit, Queens Award, Duke of Edinburgh etc. In Rangers there are loads of opportunities and trips away. You are never bored as a Ranger.

Rangers is different to Guides in the way that we are more girl led rather than leader led. We are more in charge of what we do in meetings due to our age. We like to do more activities out of the hut and sometimes we can be more relaxed then Guides because most of us go to Rangers to escape from stress of school and exams. We love to have a laugh and try out new things. Food is always a priority for Rangers as well, from chips to ice cream, you are never hungry at Rangers.

We don't meet as often as Guides either. We meet every other week and are meetings are slightly shorter. The Ranger group I go to meets every other Monday from 7:30 pm to 9 pm. We do enjoy trips, however, that are at the weekends and holidays. Our favourite days are going to London.

Our leaders are great and supportive of whatever you want to achieve at Rangers. They don't mind if you just want to turn up to meetings or if you want earn badges and qualifications. They will help with whatever and will always be there to support you.

If you have any questions please ask them in the comments and I will try my best to answer them or I will ask someone who can.

Thank you for reading and make sure you keep safe and keep on Guiding! Also check out my Pinterest that I have made for this blog : https://www.pinterest.co.uk/guidingathome/
